Situational Problems as a Major Factor of Inadequacy of Speaking Competency in Sri Lankan Adult ESL Learners

The main objective of the current study was to explore impact situational problems i.e. poor input, low topical knowledge, lack time for practice, opportunities inability make constructions, and feedback on adult English as a second language (ESL) learners in learning speaking skills at government monitored institute higher education. research prompted by major done previously same local context faced ESL which revealed that cognitive psychological are made worse problems. This qualitative exploratory with 50 following national diploma HNDE this institute. Open questionnaires interviews were used data gathering instrument followed grounded theory. A triangulation questionnaire transcripts interview analyzed through thematic analysis. findings confirm existence particular disclose space given subject curriculum unwise revisions brought it. cause students’ competence is sadly bad teaching.
